Russian scientists from the “Nelan - Oxide” laboratory in Karelia invented a universal ecological filter that neutralizes automobile exhaust gas and cleans the air inside buildings. According to lab specialists, the secret is in granules with a special titanium - aluminum alloy. Manganese dioxide fills the filter surface. When penetrating the filter carbon, oxide undergoes a chemical reaction and becomes a carbon dioxide. If silver nanoparticles replace the manganese, the filter will modify its features to become an ecofilter that cleans air and water, as well as neutralize exhaust gases.
This discovery has enabled the Karelian scientists to launch experimental productions of filter plates to clean air in buildings, and decontaminate air conditioners with accumulated dangerous bacteria. The production costs of the plates are minimal, and the technology is simple, as it is based on known inexpensive electrolytes.
This new technology has been applied in the production of fire robots. However, the eco - filters are also of interest to medical workers for use in operation and hospital rooms. Additionally, according to plans, scientists will make an experimental model of a car filter by the end of this year.
