Low-density ZnO microrod arrays with a diameter of approximately 1μm and a space length of approximately 10μm are prepared on nonseeded fluorine doped tin oxide substrates via a low-temperature hydrothermal process. The unprecedented low-density ZnO microrod arrays provide an important feature for future electronic devices.
Highlights
► Low-density ZnO microrod arrays are grown on nonseeded FTO substrates. ► The ZnO microrods possess a well-defined hexagonal prism morphology. ► Excellent lattice matching between ZnO and SnO2promotes the epitaxial nucleation of the ZnO microrods on FTO surface.
